Hello all! I know you, like me, have been patiently awaiting your copies of Escalation, and possibly a copy of the third printing of Eminent Domain as well.

Well, I've got some good news and some bad news...

The good news is that nothing is wrong with Escalation! I got an advance copy to verify everything (you saw the pics in a previous update) - and everything's great!

The bad news is to do with Eminent Domain 3rd edition. When playing my first game of Escalation with the advanced copies, I noticed a printing error. Imagine my surprise when I went to purchase technology, looked on the back side of imperialism, and found a regular card back rather than Scorched Earth Policy! It turns out that 17 cards were misprinted - there was an error on the print sheet, and the fronts and backs weren't matching up properly on 17 cards.

13 of the cards with errors were planets which had the incorrect backs. In an effort to expedite the fix I considered just leaving those incorrect, as the distribution was fine, the only problem was that where a particular planet used to cost 4 Warfare/5 Colonize, now it might cost 6 Warfare/3 Colonize - the costs would be mixed up a little bit. I felt there was a very good chance that people wouldn't even notice this, and it didn't really change the game any... I considered this, but in the end we decided to do it right and reprint all 17 incorrect cards.

I'll finish this update with some more good news. The error has been fixed, and the new cards printed without incident! This of course has caused some delay, but luckily it does not look like that delay will hurt us as we were a bit ahead of schedule in the first place! So the boat containing Eminent Domain, Escalation, and Belfort: the Expansion Expansion is being scheduled to leave port approximately October 18 - I saw emails flying back and forth today between people arranging the shipment.

When I hear more information about when the shipment is likely to arrive, I will let you know. We're getting closer by the day, and I'm getting anxious to see reports of players playing Escalation!

P.S. One more bit of news... while the cards for Escalation and the 3rd printing of Eminent Domain are exactly the same size, it appears they're all about 0.5mm taller than the original cards from the first printing. This is due to tolerances, and the fact that the original cards were printed a few years ago vs these cards printed now. That's just the way it is, and nothing can be done about it.

Therefore if you have the original first printing of Eminent Domain (the one that came with the bonus planets), then you may want to sleeve the whole set when the expansion arrives - this is often a good idea anyway because the older cards could show more wear than the newer cards. To be clear, this isn't really a big deal. I played with the new expansion cards and the old 1st edition cards without sleeves, and it works just fine... you can just tell when shuffling that some of the cards are a TINY bit taller than others.

I do not know about the 2nd printing - maybe when the cards arrive someone with the 2nd printing can post whether there's a 0.5mm discrepancy or not.

If you're anything like me, then you're curious as to the status of the Escalation shipment. Well, I have some news on that:
I just got confirmation that the Eminent Domain and Escalation shipment (along with Belfort: The Expansion Expansion) has been delivered to the port on time to make the boat scheduled to depart Oct 23. Panda promises to confirm with me when the ship leaves. That means THIS WEEK the games will be on open water on their way to our warehouse, and then on their way to you!
I know it's a long wait, but things are moving forward, so bear with us for a couple more weeks and you'll be upgrading your Fleet in no time!

It's been a month since the last update, and in that time the slow boat from China has slowly, but successfully, made it's way to Georgia! Just today I received the following email from the Freight Forwarder:
"Vessel has arrived Georgia and your container is currently pending U.S. Customs Exam. Please note this can take up to a week. We will continue to follow up and let you know as soon as container is released for delivery."
Let's break that email down...

THE GOOD

"Vessel has arrived Georgia..."
The good news is that the boat arrived, on schedule, without any mishaps such as weather delays or pirate attacks!

THE BAD

"...your container is currently pending U.S. Customs Exam."
I'm not sure how often shipments get flagged for Customs exams, or how long they take, or how much of that was built into the ETA I'd received from the freight forwarder in the past. Hopefully it'll be no big deal and the shipment will still arrive at the Fulfillment warehouse on time. Chances are the Customs people are just as excited to get their hands on the Escalation as we are

THE UGLY

"Please note this can take up to a week."
If the shipment does take a week to clear customs, then I will be very sad, because I believe that will impact our ability to make PSI's last "auto-ship" date of the year. I am not sure if that will affect KS backers in any way, but it will certainly affect the street date when stores will have the product.
There's nothing that can be done about this, so please join me as I cross my fingers and hope (or pray, if that's your thing) for a quick Customs turnaround!
I will keep you posted as I learn more info. Bear with us - the long wait is almost over!

Good news, everyone! The shipment of Eminent Domain and Escalation has cleared customs and should have arrived at our warehouse yesterday.
As you can imagine, our warehouse is very busy this time of year, and I'm sure it will take them a little time to process all of your shipments. Backer shipments will then be sent as a batch to be fulfilled by Amazon, who generally has a great record of getting shipments to people. I am hopeful that this process won't take long, and I will update again when I get more info as to when you can expect your copies to arrive!
If you have a change of address since the survey was filled out, please contact Michael directly through the Kickstarter message system and he will do his best to get you sorted out and make sure you get your package.

As of January 21st, according to Amazon's system, all but the last 60 or so Kickstarter packages have been sent out! I don't expect the last 60 or so packages will take very long to get through the system, so everyone who hasn't already received their games should be getting them soon!

Dragii Mosului,

E posibil sa fim printre ultimii care primesc pachetul, dar cei din urma vor fi cei dintai (daca se inverseaza sensul cozii si se deschide inca un ghiseu la celalalt capat).
Deci expansiunile au ajuns cu bine si vamesul a fost dragutz si nu ne-a taxat.
Sunteti rugati sa-mi dati adresa de corespondenta (mai putin homey) si sa-mi spuneti daca cei 3 din Bucuresti aveti ceva impotriva in a primi un singur colet pe adresa lui fl0po, de exemplu.
