Project Update #37: Martin Wallace's Moongha Invaders
An explanation of why progress has been slow
Some of you are a understandably concerned about the slow progress of Moongha
Invaders. I thought it might be useful to explain some of the realities of the
situation facing Treefrog.
The main issue now is cash flow. Some of you might chip in that that's what the
money from KS was for. Well yes, to a certain extent. However, production costs have
been very much higher than we expected, or planned for, and the main problem now is
that 100% of the production has to be paid upfront - no credit.
So far we have spent the following:
$20,000 on tooling
£10,000 on artwork,
$12,000 on sculpting.
Each game will cost around $20 per unit, including shipping to distribution points.
We are planning on producing 4000 units, so that's another $80,000.
We then have to pay individual shipping on the KS orders, which will be about
another $25,000. There will also be further costs of around $8000 for the production
of files.
From the money gained from KS about 10% went to KS and Amazon, so we ended up with
around $80,000. That leaves a shortfall of $75,000. Now, once the game is out we
will make money back from sales, but we still need to pay out a lot before we get
anything back.
At this point in time, the Moongha project has to be funded by profits from other
games, namely Mythotopia and Onward to Venus. That is why these projects are our
main priority at the moment, as they will give us the funds to continue with
Moongha. However, we will only see these profits once these games are released,
which will be early October.
Cool Stuff, Inc have been incredibly supportive in taking on some aspects of the
management of the project. They have also agreed to pay production costs in return
for stock on future Treefrog games. This all helps to ease cash flow. However, at
this point in time CSI are focused on Gencon, so I have to wait until the show is
over before money can be sent to Panda to continue with production. What this means
is that actual printing will begin soon. Panda require 50% upfront then the rest on
completion. CSI will pay the initial amount and then Treefrog the remainder once the
games are ready.
There is absolutely no way that this project will be abandoned, one way or another
the game will come out.
I apologise for these delays. As I stated in the initial KS presentation, this is
the first time I have dealt with the production of plastic pieces, which meant a
degree of risk. As it turned out costs have been far higher than I imagined, for a
variety of reasons. However, with the help of a number of people in the business I
have been able to deal with these issues, it just has taken longer than I would have
liked.
I appreciate the amazing patience that many of you have shown. A little more and we
should be there. If all goes well then the game will be ready either late 2014 or
early 2015.
Can I suggest that if you have direct queries about the project, contacting Julia at
julia@treefroggames.com will ensure that you receive a prompt, personal response.
Best wishes
Martin Wallace

Din fericire, fiecare aventura de genul ne mai invata cate ceva. De acum inainte il voi evita pe nenea Martin si a lui Treefrog, daca produsul nu se afla deja pe raft si pot sa il iau direct cu mine acasa.

Mda asta cred ca ar fi bun in politichia romaneasca atat de multa vrajeala ieftina are in el

Cica se vede luminita... 2-4 luniProject Update #39: Production has started
Full production has now started on Moongha Invaders. Hopefully the game will be ready to ship in the next eight weeks. Shipping time to the order fulfilment centres will be around another eight to ten weeks after that, depending on which part of the world you live in. All of the plastic pieces are done.
Thanks again for your patience with this project. There is now light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: Moongha Invaders
In cazul in care va faceati planuri sa-l jucati prea rapidPanda
I have just checked back through my emails and on the 3rd September 2014 Panda clearly stated that “ We are also currently checking the files, and working on dice samples. Hopefully we can complete checking all print files and go into mass production ASAP.” Safe to assume all was well we thought, hence the information we shared with you on time scales.
However on the 18th November we received an email stating that, “We are still waiting for the remainder of the files to be uploaded to our server”. It took 11 weeks for them to let us know this.
The remaining files are now with them and I will repeatedly contact them for updates, not assume that things are progressing quickly. This is not an update I wanted to write and I know it is not an update that you wanted to read. I will endeavour to take over keeping information flowing through to you , but we are on vacation from the 5th to the 17th of December, urgent emails will be dealt with but all others will be answered on our return.
Many thanks. Julia

Re: Moongha Invaders
#44 production update
All but one of the missing files have now been created. Slight delay as some need translating, so you are always working at the speed of the slowest translator.
All of the plastic pieces have been produced.
All of the printed matter will be done as soon as the latest files are delivered. The actual printing does not take long - you can print a game in a day. What takes longer is any sticking that has to be done - you have to take care with game boards, otherwise they warp. It is also the case that in China you have to let the printed material acclimatize, otherwise you run the risk of mould.
Hopefully will know more next few weeks.

First 2015 update
Happy New Year everybody,
The production company are sending me a pre production copy of the game, should be in the post now. This is a final check to make sure everything is OK before going to the final print. Will post once I have seen ppc.

Dau drumul la cote de pariuri pentru situatia in care Martinica nu e multumit de cum arata jocul si mai amana intrarea lui in productie?

Re: Moongha Invaders
pre production copy has arrived
Pre production copy has reached me. This is made up of sheets showing the cards, rules and other components. It also includes a mock-up of the box. I need to go through and check these and then let Panda know if they are OK or whether any corrections need to be made.
Oh, and a Happy New Year.

Update #47
Pre Production Copy
I am hoping that the following pictures give you a taste of what the final product will look like. Everything is a really, really rough paper copy as you can see and we have to go through all of it tiny bit by tiny bit. Thanks to those who offered to proof read rules, player aid cards etc but we have a group of people who are already helping with that.
I will get back to you when everything has been approved with more information.
Thank you so much,
Julia

Update #49
Proofs corrected
Hi everybody,
Just to let you know that the proofs have been corrected and new files sent to Panda. Slight delay, ha ha, as it's Chinese New Year. Once they have uploaded the new files then we should be ready to roll.

#50 Ready to hit the 'go' button
Almost ready to go! As there was a delay in getting the files checked over I decided to go back on my decision to not include German, French and Italian rules. Those will now be included. The only downside is that one small file - won't say which country, is still waiting to be done. That's the problem with translations, you work at the speed of the slowest horse. I'm hoping that that file has been done over the weekend, just waiting for confirmation from Hans the graphics guy. If that is the case then everything is ready to go and printing can begin.

#51 Printing is about to Begin!
Actual printing is about to begin. Fabian from Panda will send me a schedule soon of when the games will be ready. In theory this will be within 30-45 days.’
Thanks
