Kickstarter - D-Day Dice Boardgame

Un nou proiect lansat de cateva zile (doua mai exact) pe Kickstarter si dupa modul in care a pornit, s-ar putea sa fie cel mai de succes proiect de boardgames. A ajuns la 220% in cele 2 zile si mai are nu mai putin de 37 zile pana la final.

D-Day Dice este unul din putinele jocuri PnP care mi-au atras atentia in trecut. Am si cochetat cu gandul de a-mi face cateva deckuri Artscow insa skillul meu in materie de design/redesign si alte cele tinde spre minus infinit, asa ca am abandonat. Plus, nu am avut rabdare sa vad cum merge toata chestia asta numita Artscow, un alt motiv pentru care inca nu am jocul.

Oricum, veste buna, Valley Games va tipari jocul si ruleaza un proiect Kickstarter in care vor oferi tot felul de chestii exclusive (si de data asta ei chiar promit ca vor fi exclusive, nu cum au fost exclusive cele de la Quarriors (parca in jurul lor a fost ditamai tam-tam-ul pe BGG).

Secondly, since we are nearly triple our expected goal in our first 72 hours, we have decided to offer a "thank you" gift to supporters of ALL levels, in the form of the "D-Day Dice: Badges" mini-expansion, which will consist of 10 cards. Update #4: Kickstarter Bonus Cards!

Once again, with your support we have reached a new level at $45,000! For this we would like to thank you and so Emmanuel has put up two new cards for everyone supporting this project.

They are the K-Gun and the Pledge Ribbon!


Small historical note: The Vickers "K" machine gun (also called VGO: Vickers Gas Operated) had an adjustable rate of fire between 950 and 1,200 rounds per minute (faster than the German MG34), designed to be mounted on vehicles like planes or jeeps for very short bursts. It is mostly known as the machine gun of choice of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG), who fitted their jeeps with these powerful weapons. A special infantry version of the K-Gun was developed and tested by the Commandos who landed on Sword Beach on D-Day (this top secret weapon was fielded by 2 Free French troops of the "Kieffer" Commando).

We are currently working on more rewards as the support climbs higher, and once we have confirmations from the various manufacturers we will announce those as well!

Update #6: Newest stretch reward.

How many times can we say thank you? Not enough! Thanks to all of you this project has become one of the most exciting things we have done at Valley Games and enabled us to ensure Emmanuel's first experience with having a game published is a memorable one. Now, on to the stretch reward!

Supporters of all levels will also get a set of 4 "MGF Dice". These will come with special optional rules and will be compatible with the base game and all its expansions.



(With these dice, Machine-Gun Fire will become much more unpredictable. And hey, who doesn't want more unpredictability in a dice game eh?)

After receiving tons of requests for it, and a lot of debating in DDD HQ, Valley Games has decided to open some more Lines for Life.We now have 100 single "Line for Life", going for 140$ each, and 13 "Line for Life x4", going for 450$ (the best deal around!).

So grab 'em while they're hot, because when they're gone, they're gone.

Update #8: $60,000 Stretch Reward

Seems like yesterday that we were announcing the 50K reward... oh wait, it was!

So what's in store for you, faithful Kickstarter supporters of all levels?

We've done cards, we've done dice, so what else is there? How about 2 brand-new Battle Maps?

Printed on a heavy, double-sided board, these 2 new Maps will bring the total number of maps to 10 for supporters of the lowest level (just the base game), and to a whopping 22 maps for those who pledged for the Atlantikwall/Operation Neptune/Normandy expansions!

Sword Beach II: Playable as a single Battle Map OR as an extension to the "Sword Beach" Battle Map included in the base game, "Sword Beach II" will offer more of the very popular "random sectors" feature, where some sectors have variable special text. Random sectors mean that you can play the map over and over again, and never have the same experience!

Riva Bella: Ouistreham's Riva Bella Casino was one of the main objectives of the Sword Beach landings. The 177 French Commandos, led by Philippe Kieffer, were ordered to neutralize this strongpoint, which the Germans had converted to a very well-defended bunker. The French were greeted by sniper fire and an almost-impregnable machine-gun nest. Kieffer had to commandeer an Allied tank to break through the German defenses. Once the casino fell, the French Commandos went on to relieve the British forces at Pegasus Bridge... (These events can be seen in the movie "The Longest Day"

criss, este un excellent joc solitaire. De fapt, de ce sa nu fiu sincer, alaturi de Airplane in my Pocket de la acelasi designer, sunt singurele jocuri PnP pe care le-am considerat meritorii de un loc in colectie.

Mi-a placut mult de tot ideea, iar acum, in formatul acesta "comercial", realizarea este superba.

M-ar tenta versiunea aceea cu 100$ pentru trei jocuri, enumerata mai sus, asta ar insemna 1 mil. lei de caciula.

Nu cred ca am inteles ... care este acea optiune?

87$ de caciula pentru un joc cu zaruri mi se pare mult prea mult...

Si mie mi s-ar parea mult $87 pentru un "simplu" joc de zaruri. Insa este jocul de baza, 4 extensii, tot felul de chestiute promo. La final, este vorba de 22 harti cardboard mounted. In conditiile in care o harta mounted pentru Age of Steam este $20 EUR = aprox $25, atunci nu mi se mai pare atat de mult.

O extensie la Thunderstone, de exemplu, este in jurul sumei de $25. Si am dat exemplu Thunderstone fiindca este un joc pe care il indragesc. Si acolo, daca stau sa fiu cinic, este "doar un pachet de carti".

Probabil ca am inteles gresit chestia aia "Pledge $100".
La 22 de harti de tip "mounted", probabil ca ai dreptate, in cazul ca jocul este foarte bun. Daca zici ca nu-i graba la oferta aia, hai sa asteptam sa iasa mai multe pareri/review'uri pe pagina jocului sa vedem daca jocul merita investitia. Momentan cea mai mare nota care i s-a dat este 9 si unii se pling ca norocul are un factor mult prea mare.

Asteptam, insa nu putem astepta mai mult decat data de 9 Decembrie 2011, momentul in care proiectul se va inchide si aceste oferte nu vor mai fi valabile.

Cat despre reviews, putin probabil sa apara prea multe fiindca jocul este available de multa vreme in versiunea Print and Play. Cine vrea, si-l poate face in 45 min. Iar varianta comerciala, cea care "rocks on", nu va fi disponibila decat dupa finalizarea proiectului.

Daca te astepti la un joc de genul CC:E, normal ca vei fi dezamagit. Insa eu sunt atat de entuziasmat de acest joc, tocmai din cauza ca se vrea sa fie un joc unde trebuie sa iti administrezi cat mai bine resursele (zarurile), pentru a-ti realiza telul final. Daca nu ar avea zaruri, nici nu m-as uita la el; fara zaruri, in cateva jocuri l-as deslusi, ar deveni scriptabil si bye-bye challenge-ul de a-l juca.
